Maria Augusta von Trapp once said:
“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly closed hearts open.”
A quote that is true to its core.
On May 17, Pehchaan The Street School was visited by Gautam, a professional anchor and a passionate singer, with his team, to organize a fun and melodious event at Indraprastha Centre.
The event started at 4 PM, where Gautam and his team were welcomed with roaring applause and visible excitement. The anticipation for the activities ahead and the excitement of experiencing yet another memorable event at Pehchaan The Street School was clearly visible.
As the crowd settled down, the actual show started.
The evening was full of laughter, with all the students participating in games and showcasing their prepared performances. All the students, volunteers, and guests supported each other with amicable ease, offering encouraging words and loudly cheering one another to chase away their anxiety.
All of their performances were full of energy and joy. The thrill of being in the spotlight, being cheered on, brought out a high level of pure, genuine happiness in every single child. And their performances were backed by none other than the star of the show, Anchor Gautam. He smoothly maneuvered through every performance and fun game activity with the same level of enthusiasm and elation as the crowd. Anchoring was not the only thing he did; he brought his soothing voice to the stage, singing Bollywood melodies that had the crowd swaying and singing, and humming along.
All these moments naturally came together to make every student, every volunteer, and every guest who came to join the event relax and open up. It provided a much-needed space to take a breath of fresh air amidst the relentless summer of Delhi and the weight of the usual academic and workplace stress.
Sometimes, spending the time and money to encourage these fun events is mistaken for mere “distractions”.
But it shouldn’t be mistaken as such. A child is not a machine.
Expecting them to study continuously, without any rest, would do more harm than good. Focusing too much on academic brilliance and ignoring their mental and emotional well-being would be detrimental to their overall growth. Not to mention, it will compromise the very essence of their childhood.
That is why Pehchaan The Street School prioritizes moments of joy like this alongside focusing on the academic curriculum. A happy and refreshed mind is more capable of soaking up new lessons and taking on the challenges ahead on the way to a successful life than an exhausted and emotionally drained mind.
But Gautam and his team didn’t just come to provide temporary entertainment or a space to unwind. They also came to gift the much-needed resources for students, which Pehchaan The Street School really appreciated. They brought notebooks and stationery kits full of pens, pencils, erasers, and drawing supplies for 150 children, which were received with immense gratitude towards Gautam and his team, as the students experienced the joy of collecting fresh new supplies to fill with their lessons and dreams.
Alongside the resources, they collectively gave a generous and thoughtful contribution of ₹5,000 to support the growing family of Pehchaan The Street School.
At the end, Gautam and his team spared no effort to entertain everyone present at the Indraprastha center. Through their energy and thoughtful contribution, they showed how committed they were to making everyone relax physically and emotionally. They didn’t just create moments of joy; they created an environment where everyone felt comfortable, valued, and free to enjoy themselves.
Gautam and his Team are not the only ones who can contribute to support our students.
You can do it too.
