Pehchaan The Street School, in collaboration with the Rotaract Club of Delhi South East, conducted an interactive awareness session on menstrual hygiene with our students. The session aimed to promote accurate knowledge and address misconceptions, myths, and stigmas surrounding the subject of menstruation.
Through open discussion, the session helped students understand the menstrual cycle and common misconceptions surrounding the menstruation rather than believing misconceptions. The discussion also emphasised that menstruation is a natural biological process and that maintaining menstrual hygiene is an important part of personal well-being, and not adhering to personal hygiene practices could affect women’s mental and physical health. The educational initiative focused primarily towards more informed and clearer understanding among students.
Alongside the session, the Rotaract Club of Delhi South East distributed sanitary napkins, chocolates, and samosas to the students and volunteers. The distribution of sanitary pads reinforced the importance of menstrual hygiene and access to essential hygiene products. At Pehchaan The Street School, initiatives like this reflect the understanding that education extends beyond academic learning. Creating awareness around health and personal well-being can help students navigate everyday situations with greater confidence and understanding.
The session aimed to challenge the stigma surrounding conversation about menstrual hygiene. It also encouraged the students to question the misconceptions and taboos that can make conversations around menstruation difficult. Such awareness initiatives also acknowledge questions and challenges that students may face related to health and well-being beyond the classroom. The session created a space where students could approach conversations about their bodies and health with greater awareness.
The meaningful collaboration between Pehchaan The Street School and Rotaract Club of Delhi South East encouraged students to think critically and question misinformation. The session highlighted the importance of guiding students in the right direction from an early age so they can make informed choices. The session helped students to understand social and health-related issues.. This initiative has been an earnest effort to help students develop awareness, guide them to make informed choices, and prepare them to navigate the world around them.
This collaborative initiative between Pehchaan The Street School and the Rotaract Club of Delhi South East is an example of how community-led efforts can support meaningful learning with impactful consequences. It was a meaningful step towards equipping students with accurate information and greater awareness.
Let’s create spaces where every student can learn, ask questions, and feel heard!
