Pehchaan The Street School × EcoRight: A Chain of Kindness That Came Back Brighter

There are some recycled pieces of kindness that don’t feel like collaborations… they feel like life re-circling back with a little more bagfuls of feelings than before. And for us, EcoRight has become one such name that brings this gentle, warm feeling. They are a Proudly Made In India brand, making bags with recycled and organic materials like organic cotton and other eco-friendly fabrics.

But for us, they have become way more than just a brand,

They have become that part of our memory, where we are on a journey of making Education – An Equality with our children.

Last year, in winters, around Christmas, things were different. Everything felt smaller, quieter, and honestly, we didn’t even know if any brand would say ‘yes’. We reached out to EcoRight on Instagram with a simple message but a warm hope. And then suddenly, they actually said yes. We got 150tote bags.

If you are reading this, I know , you may feel, it’s not a huge number, but for us, it felt like a Santa Clause Miracle, we didn’t even know how to describe.

The tote bags from EcoRight travelled a long way,

To the hands of our volunteers,

In the smiles of our children,

Through the dust-filled lanes,

Where their smiles light up in every corner… And, they stayed with us as a memory that we still carry.

That was the kind of warmth, when this year, in Diwali, we felt the same spark, maybe we should try again. Diwali is a festival of lights, but, when we look at the eyes of our students , they already shine brighter than any diya.

We wanted something to gift them… something little apart from the regular school bags.

Not to replace anything,

not to change anything,

but just to add a little surprise to their festival.

A small piece of joy they can hold in their hands.

Here’s when we approached EcoRight again.

We told them about our upcoming Diwali celebration, nothing fancy, nothing exaggerated, just honestly what we were planning. And they were interested again. The Pehchaan The Street School team was in contact with Pradyuman Sir this time, and the collaboration was set up almost a month before. That whole month, somewhere in the background of our everyday routine, there was this silent excitement. Quiet hope.

A mixed feeling of excitement and joy that something amazing is coming. And then… it happened.

This time, we got 1500 beautiful tote bags. A number that felt unreal when we first heard it.

You know, sometimes joy doesn’t come in loud celebrations. It comes in simple emails, silent confirmations, boxes arriving at the right time, and the feeling that someone somewhere believes in your mission enough to support it again… and again… and again.

And I don’t know why, but when we saw those bags, something old and nostalgic came back. Maybe because bags have always been part of our lives in a quiet, loyal way. We all grew up with one… a school bag that carried our dreams before we even knew how to dream properly. A cloth bag our mothers kept for “special grocery days”. A little purse or pouch where we hid our secrets. A bag is never just a bag; it carries pieces of us.

And now, these EcoRight tote bags will carry pieces of our children’s lives.

Maybe their notebooks. Maybe their little treasures — a favourite pencil, a drawing, a leaf they found on the road and decided to keep. Maybe they will carry their happiness during festivals or their hopes when they walk to class. But whatever they carry inside, the bags themselves will carry something bigger — the feeling that someone cared enough to think of them. Someone cared enough to send them 1500 reminders that they matter.

This is not just a collaboration for us. It never was. It’s a chain of kindness that began with 150 bags last Christmas and came back this year with 1500… like the universe saying, “Here, take a little more light this time.”

And we are forever grateful.

Deeply, quietly, overwhelmingly grateful.

Thankyou EcoRight.
