True education is not only about textbooks, classrooms, and tests. It helps grow each child’s potential and supports them through their journey of self-discovery. Since its beginning in April 2015, Pehchaan The Street School has worked to put this philosophy into practice across its centres. Being a registered and voluntary non-profit organization, Pehchaan The Street School provides free education, supplementary academic support, and essential life skills to children with limited access to educational opportunities. Pehchaan The Street School believes in providing long-term support to students rather than focusing on their short-term needs.
As India celebrates Independence Day, Pehchaan The Street School announces an expanded version of its outreach campaign that offers children an opportunity to explore their minds and dreams beyond their regular routine. On 9th August, Pehchaan The Street School’s team organized a special event under the theme ‘Freedom to Dream: A Creator’s Day Out,’ aiming to inspire the children to think differently and express their ideas creatively.
The highlight of the ‘Freedom to Dream’ campaign was the opportunity for students to interact directly with social media influencers such as Kirti Mehra, Guneet Kaur, and Karan Singh, who joined the on-ground volunteers at the Noida centre for the event.
This unique meeting became an incredible motivation and learning experience for the children. The invited creators shared their personal and professional journeys and encouraged the children to invest more time and effort in supporting their creativity. Moreover, interacting with the invited influencers offered children a glimpse of real-world experience, teaching them valuable lessons about self-growth and strength. The young ones were inspired to embrace their personalities and pursue their passions, regardless of the challenges and failures in their way.

Growth Through Conversation and Creativity
The special event featured a variety of community activities designed to promote an open exchange of thought, encourage mutual learning, and make everyone feel welcome:
Interactive Mentorship: Unlike the classic teacher-student communication, mentors talked with the children in a friendly and informal setting. This was an incredible opportunity for the children to learn more about careers, lifestyle choices, and hobbies from the influential people in the room.
Expressive Art Session: The mentors and volunteers conducted an expressive art activity where children showcased their creative ideas and visions via drawings and paintings. This was a great chance for the children to communicate their personal interests, dreams, and unique personalities without any limitations.
Team-Building Exercises: The play area became the place where all the children, volunteers, and influencers got energized and engaged in a variety of exciting team-building games and activities. All the exercises promoted a positive environment while encouraging children to step out of their comfort zones and challenge themselves.
Prioritizing Dignity over Sympathy
Dignity and long-term empowerment were central to the ‘Freedom to Dream’ initiative. The program focused entirely on celebrating the incredible creativity, ideas, and inner strength that the children have, rather than focusing on the challenges they may face in their daily lives.
This interactive initiative provided these young minds with a welcoming platform for personal expression. Being listened to attentively and having their ideas taken seriously created an environment where children could express themselves with greater confidence. This important conversation allowed the students to appreciate their own self-worth, realize that their unique voices matter, and build lasting self-belief.
Driving Positive Change
The event at Pehchaan The Street School’s Noida centre successfully brought together creativity and meaningful interaction. Celebrating independence is about much more than a ceremonial observance. In its truest sense, freedom means enabling young minds to think freely, express themselves openly, and look toward a better future without hesitation. Through this initiative, Pehchaan The Street School continues its efforts to help the next generation grow into confident individuals who feel empowered to make their own choices. With the community’s continued support, we can keep providing the strong educational foundations that allow these bright minds to dream and build a promising tomorrow.
