Pehchaan The Street School Brings Purpose to Montage 2025: A Celebration of Creativity and Cause

With great anticipation, Jesus and Mary College (JMC) hosts its annual fest, Montage, which consumes the college with an immense amount of vibrancy. More than just a college fest filled with stalls, performances, and food, Montage captures the very essence of the institution’s commitment towards energy and a holistic education. This year, on the 20th and 21st of February, there was a unique stall that not only brought novelty to the monotony of college fests but also had a higher purpose — the well-being of underprivileged children. Pehchaan The Street School, an NGO dedicated towards the education of underprivileged children, set up stalls at Montage, creating a beautiful blend of fun and purpose.

Pehchaan The Street School’s stall stood out because, unlike conventional stalls that primarily focus on profits, their focus was on helping people first rather than making profits. Each and every product, whether it be useful or utterly charming, was put on for sale with an organized display. Funds generated from the sale were used to support the aims set by Pehchaan The Street School and thus, they catered to children’s needs.

Everyone, including the students and visitors, can appreciate art. For that reason, the items displayed at the stall were designed specially to cater to men and women. Notebooks, to-do diaries, journal diaries, and sticky notes for those who like stationery with a bit of flair were there on display. Pens, accessory boxes, and gift cards provided practical and stylish options, while the handcrafted bracelets, toys, and fridge magnets added a personalized charm to the collection. A sprinkle of magic was introduced with glitter boxes and dream catchers, each delicately crafted to captivate and inspire.

These items were not donated but were carefully selected and purchased wholesale. This ensured that the money collected from their sale could be effectively channeled towards the various educational and welfare programs for Pehchaan The Street School’s children. Each purchase at the stall was not just a transaction but a contribution towards a larger cause, making the entire experience fulfilling for both buyers and sellers.

Montage: The Heartbeat of JMC

Montage vividly portrays passion, innovation and creativity. It is a two-day festival that unites students from various parts of Delhi to compete in spellbinding competitions, including musical performances, panel discussions, and a variety of shopping and eating stalls. Visitors and students participate actively, absorbing the festive atmosphere, which, like any fervent festival, is electrifying.

By showcasing Pehchaan the Street School at Montage, they were able to incorporate JMC’s values of compassion, empowerment, and social responsibility. Pehchaan The Street School stall attendees, including students, faculty, and other visitors, appreciated the products cooked in the mission behind them. It constructed a stylish hub where one could retail with dignity, secure in the knowledge that this would go to help impoverished children.

Through Pehchaan The Street School’s stall at Montage, it positioned itself as a bonafide festival — one that celebrates an ethos of compassion and community, and not just mindless entertainment. The stall accentuated how a college fest can transform into a compelling point of social activism and how students can relate to issues outside the periphery of their scope.

Pehchaan the Street School: Educating and Empowering

Pehchaan the Street School is more than an initiative — it is a movement aimed at providing education and other essential resources for children who do not have access to them. In efforts to support the underprivileged, Pehchaan The Street School has been working towards offering underprivileged children holistic free education along with essential supplies. With the funds raised from stalls like Montage, the underprivileged children are provided with greater opportunities by ensuring the expansion and continuance of these educational programs.

Pehchaan The Street School understands that there is a strong correlation between education and poverty when trying to understand social issues, which is why they expertly work to close the gap between sustenance and deprivation. It ensures that children are able to see the world in a better light. Students and visitors at Montage do not just help close the socio-economic gap when they make purchases, but also serve to transform an act as simple as shopping into one of kindness and empowerment.

A Celebration with a Cause

Pehchaan The Street School’s stall at Montage was a reminder that festivals are not just about fun and entertainment but also about community and compassion. It highlighted how a college fest could serve as a platform for social change, encouraging students to engage with causes that extend beyond their immediate surroundings. Pehchaan The Street School demonstrates how much can be done through collective action during their participation in Montage. Their success was not simply judged by how much they made, but by how many people they were able to bring together to help fulfill a greater cause. All the students who bought notepads, the people who looked at the crafts with interest, and even those who simply walked past the stall and learned about the initiative played a part in creating a greater positive change.

The Road Ahead

The effects of such activities do not stop when the fair is over or the stall has been shut. The essence of giving, the dialogues that were ignited, and the knowledge that was shared during Montage will continue to echo within the JMC circle and beyond. Pehchaan the Street School’s participation in Montage serves to prove that even the simplest of actions such as purchasing a diary or bracelet can empower a movement towards education.

As students, faculty, and other guests exited the fest with their items, they went home not only with beautiful products but with a more nuanced understanding of paying it forward. Montage 2025 was not only a showcase of skill and artistry but also of compassion and reason, all due to Pehchaan the Street School.

In a day and age when the excessive dwarfs the ordinary, the ordinary of endorsing through daily life is perhaps gentler but no less powerful. Pehchaan The Street School’s stills at Montage served as a great reminder that this choice, to effect change, starts from deliberately deciding to care, support, and uplift the marginalized.
